Amish Apple Fritter Bread

A delightful bread that combines the flavors of classic apple fritters with the comforting softness of a loaf.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  3. Mix the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until well combined.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Sprinkle some extra chopped apples on the first layer and pour in the remaining batter.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk for the glaze and drizzle it over the cooled loaf.
