Mary Berry’s Dorset Apple Traybake

A classic and comforting apple traybake that embodies the warmth of home baking and is perfect for any gathering.

  • 45 Bramley Apples
  • 225g Self-Raising Flour
  • 175g Light Muscovado Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 175g Butter (unsalted)
  • 3 Eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare your baking tray by greasing and lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Peel and chop the Bramley apples into half-centimeter thick slices.
  4. Cream the butter and light muscovado sugar together until fluffy and pale.
  5. Add 3 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Incorporate the self-raising flour and cinnamon, folding gently without overmixing.
  7. Mix in the apple slices until they are well coated.
  8. Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown and a skewer comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the tin before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

This traybake is delicious served warm with ice cream or double cream. Experiment with different apple varieties!
