Homemade Beef Stew

A classic beef stew filled with tender chunks of beef, carrots, potatoes, and aromatic herbs that warms the heart and soul.

Ingredients

  • Beef Chuck (2-3 pounds)
  • Carrots (3-4, sliced)
  • Potatoes (3-4, diced)
  • Celery (2 stalks, chopped)
  • Broth (4 cups)
  • Onions (1, chopped)
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
  • Red Wine (1 cup, optional)
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Thyme and Bay Leaves

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by chopping vegetables and cutting beef into uniform cubes.
  2. Brown the beef in a large Dutch oven with oil over medium-high heat until seared on all sides.
  3. Add aromatics like chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot after removing the beef.
  4. Deglaze the pot with red wine, scraping up browned bits and letting it simmer.
  5. Combine the beef and vegetables in the pot, then pour in the broth and add seasonings.
  6. Simmer gently for 1.5 to 2 hours until the beef is tender.
  7. Final touches: Adjust seasoning and thicken if desired before serving.
