1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 cup cooked apple pie filling
1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well. Add melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract; stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar with cinnamon.
Roll It Out: After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Spread the apple pie filling and sprinkle pecans on top.
Roll and Cut: Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
Final Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat and Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Make the Frosting: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
Frost and Serve: Allow rolls to cool for 10-15 minutes, then frost and serve warm.
