Apple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls

Delightful cinnamon rolls filled with sweet apple pie filling and crunchy pecans, perfect for cozy mornings.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup cooked apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well. Add melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract; stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
  2. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar with cinnamon.
  5. Roll It Out: After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Spread the apple pie filling and sprinkle pecans on top.
  6. Roll and Cut: Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Final Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat and Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Make the Frosting: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
  10. Frost and Serve: Allow rolls to cool for 10-15 minutes, then frost and serve warm.
