Homemade Apple Dumplings

Delightful apple dumplings wrapped in flaky pastry, infused with sweet cinnamon-spiced apple goodness.

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them into quarters.
  3. Make the sugar mixture by mixing together the 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Unroll the dough and let it soften for 5 minutes.
  5. Fill the crust by cutting it into 4 squares and wrapping the apple quarters.
  6. Melt the butter and pour it into the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Arrange the wrapped dumplings seam side down in the baking dish.
  8. Create the sauce by mixing the brown sugar and water, then pour it over the dumplings.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
  10. Cool and serve with sauce over the top.

Notes

These dumplings shine when served warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
