Sourdough Discard Cinnamon Bread

A delightful Sourdough Discard Cinnamon Bread that combines the tangy depth of sourdough discard with the warmth of cinnamon and sugar, perfect for cozy moments.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (for batter)
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon (for swirl filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for swirl filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan with grease.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/3 cup brown sugar.
  4. Combine wet ingredients: egg, milk, melted butter, and sourdough discard.
  5. Bring wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
  6. Prepare the cinnamon swirl by mixing 1 cup brown sugar with cinnamon.
  7. Layer half of the batter in the loaf pan, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon-sugar mix, then top with remaining batter and final sprinkle.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or cream cheese for a delightful breakfast. Perfect for an afternoon snack as well.
