Crispy Chickpea Fritters

Delightful and crunchy chickpea fritters, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup flour (all-purpose or chickpea flour)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your chickpeas: Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas, then mash them in a bowl.
  2. Combine the ingredients: Add flour, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper into the bowl and mix.
  3. Form the fritters: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture to form small patties.
  4. Heat the oil: In a skillet, add enough oil for frying and heat it to about 350°F.
  5. Fry the fritters: Carefully add fritters to the oil and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain and cool: Transfer fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh herbs and enjoy!

Notes

For a healthier twist, try air frying or baking the fritters.
