Classic Southern Peach Cobbler

A nostalgic dessert featuring cinnamon-kissed peaches and a buttery biscuit-like topping, perfect for family gatherings and summer picnics.

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare your peaches by washing, peeling, and slicing them into thin wedges.
  3. Combine the sliced peaches with 1 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Let them sit for 15-30 minutes.
  4. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar in another bowl.
  5. Add the milk and melted butter to the dry mixture and whisk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter without stirring.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of syrup from the pan. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.
