Homemade Cheese Crackers

Deliciously crispy homemade cheese crackers that evoke childhood memories.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 24 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add garlic powder and paprika if using; whisk to combine.
  3. Add the shredded cheese and stir well.
  4. Incorporate the softened butter, mixing until a crumbly texture forms.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons of cold water, mixing until a cohesive dough forms. Add more if needed.
  6. Chill the dough wrapped in plastic wrap for about 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface.
  8. Cut into desired shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  10. Cool the crackers on a wire rack before enjoying.

Notes

These crackers can be served with dips or snacks like olives and nuts. You can also freeze the dough for later use.
