Homemade Apple Cider

A warm and comforting homemade apple cider recipe perfect for autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of water
  • 8 apples, cored and quartered
  • 1 cup of sugar (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon of allspice berries
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients by washing the apples and coring and quartering them.
  2. Combine in a pot all ingredients: quartered apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and lemon juice.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat to release the apples’ juices.
  4. Simmer on low heat for about 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Mash the softened apples with a potato masher to release more flavor.
  6. Strain the mixture using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher.
  7. Serve warm in mugs or chill in the refrigerator before serving cold.

Notes

Consider garnishing with a cinnamon stick or apple slice for extra flair.
