Homemade Apple Turnovers

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry
  • 23 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare your apples by melting butter in a saucepan and sautéing diced apples for about 5 minutes.
  3. Sweeten the pot by adding sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice to the apples, then cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut it into 4-inch squares.
  5. Fill each square with apple filling but avoid overfilling.
  6. Seal the edges of each pastry with beaten egg wash.
  7. Prepare for baking by placing turnovers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brushing tops with egg wash.
  8. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving for added sweetness. These turnovers are best enjoyed warm.
