Spicy Garlic Bok Choy

A flavorful dish featuring bok choy sautéed in a spicy garlic sauce, perfect as a side or stir-fry addition.

  • 2 lb Bok Choy
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 7 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 stalk Green Onion (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetarian Oyster Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Korean Red Chili Flakes
  • 1.5 tbsp Black Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 4 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bok Choy: Rinse and chop the bok choy, keeping leaves whole or roughly torn.
  2. Mince the Garlic: Mince garlic finely, optionally sprinkle with salt to prevent sticking.
  3. Heat the Pan: Use a large skillet or wok, heating oil over medium-high until it shimmers.
  4. Sauté the Garlic: Add minced garlic to hot oil, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add Bok Choy Stems: Toss in chopped bok choy stems and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Incorporate the Leaves: Add bok choy leaves and stir-fry until wilted, about another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Season It Up: Sprinkle salt, sugar, and Korean red chili flakes, drizzle the sauces, and toss.
  8. Finish with Green Onions and Sesame Seeds: Stir in green onion and sesame seeds, cooking for another minute.
  9. Plate it Up: Serve immediately while hot for the best crunch!

Notes

Pairs well with jasmine rice or grilled meats. Can be enhanced with added proteins or nuts.
