Molten Double Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls

Decadent cinnamon rolls filled with molten chocolate and a hint of cinnamon, perfect for a sweet indulgence.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup dairy-free butter, melted
  • 1 cup almond milk or other dairy-free milk
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup dairy-free chocolate chips for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Make a well in the center, pour in the melted dairy-free butter and almond milk. Mix until just combined.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, knead gently for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Roll it out: Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangular shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, mix dairy-free cream cheese, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, and dairy-free chocolate chips until smooth. Spread over the dough.
  7. Roll it up: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  8. Slice the rolls: Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
  9. Arrange in a greased baking dish or muffin tin cut-side up.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until puffy and bubbly.
  11. Make the frosting while baking by melting the extra dairy-free chocolate chips.
  12. Serve the rolls warm with drizzled melted chocolate on top.

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Serve with powdered sugar or dairy-free ice cream.
