French Apple Cake

A classic French Apple Cake that combines the comforts of home with delightful flavors, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 medium apples (about 1 lb / 450 g, peeled, cored, sliced into thin wedges)
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8-inch round cake pan with butter and parchment paper.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Cream melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
  5. Add eggs (one at a time) and whole milk, mixing well.
  6. Incorporate vanilla extract.
  7. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  8. Fold in apple slices gently.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes, rotating halfway.
  11. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. Various fruits like pears or berries can be substituted.
