Creamy Chicken Orzo

A comforting and creamy chicken orzo dish that brings warmth and joy to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Chicken (boneless, skinless breasts or thighs)
  • 1 cup Orzo
  • 2 cups Fresh Spinach
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Begin by cutting your chicken into bite-sized pieces. Chop up some garlic, and set aside, along with your spinach and grated Parmesan.
  2. Sauté the Chicken: Heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until golden brown, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Add the Garlic: As the chicken gets golden, toss in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Mix in the Orzo: Add your dry orzo to the pan. Stir to coat it in all the flavorful juices and pour in 4 cups of chicken broth.
  5. Simmer Away: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add Cream and Spinach: Once the orzo is cooked, reduce the heat further and stir in the heavy cream and fresh spinach until the spinach wilts down, about 2–3 minutes.
  7. Finish with Parmesan: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.

Notes

Serving suggestion: Garnish with extra Parmesan and a twist of freshly cracked pepper; add a squeeze of lemon for zest.
