Salisbury Steak Meatballs with Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes

Tender meatballs in savory gravy paired with creamy garlic herb mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil, for frying
  • 2 lbs Potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, roasted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix.
  2. Shape the Meatballs: Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. Brown the Meatballs: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add cooking oil. Cook meatballs for about 5-6 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, sauté one finely chopped onion until translucent. Stir in a tablespoon of flour, then whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  5. Return Meatballs to the Skillet: Place the browned meatballs back into the skillet and allow them to simmer in the gravy for about 10-15 minutes.
  6. Prepare the Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes: Boil potatoes in salted water for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  7. Mash the Potatoes: Drain and return potatoes to the pot. Add butter, roasted garlic, and milk. Mash until creamy.
  8. Serve It Up: Spoon garlic herb mashed potatoes onto a plate and top with meatballs and gravy.

Notes

Try adding cheese to the meatballs or experimenting with different herbs in the mashed potatoes.
