Homemade Nectarine Bread

A delightful loaf showcasing juicy nectarines, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.

  • 2 cups fresh nectarines, sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or line with parchment paper.
  3. Combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and softened butter in a large bowl and cream until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Fold in the sliced nectarines gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Whisk together powdered sugar and milk for the glaze until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, ideally with a cup of coffee or tea.
